This simple and easy meal has been one of my favorites since I discovered it. It is flavorful and filling and really wows the skeptics. Below are the directions to create an exciting new culinary adventure!
I stumbled upon it when I was hungry (obviously), and had just a few of my favorite things. I wanted to learn how to cook a little and I thought, this is a cool, easy thing to try! And voila! A masterpiece emerged. I had enough for my parents to eat, too–large portions at that. After then, when I didn’t have chicken, and was too hungry to wait for rice to cook, the green bean soup was born.
To try it yourself and add to the raving reviews:
Put a can of green beans and a can of corn, liquid and all (I’ve found that, as well as saving water, it adds lots of flavor), into a pot. Use the leftover cans to add one or two extra cans of water to the pot. Add some sliced squash and rice (Rice should be equal to about half of the liquid in the pot–for rice dinner–or just add a little for fun, in your soup!). Add pre-cooked sliced chicken (otherwise, prepare your chicken first and add it later). Set the heat to high and let it boil, then simmer for 12 minutes (for the rice), or until your veggies are cooked how you like. Cool, and serve.
What do you say? Café Budgét doesn’t disappoint, eh?!
Now it’s nap time. And don’t forget a fortune cookie:
Keep reaching tomorrow, and in one of them, you are bound to stumble upon the thing you wish for.
As much as it isn’t breaking open a fortune cookie, it’s still something. 🙂 Highlight the above line to reveal your fortune.
